Because
digital cameras record their images differently than conventional film
cameras, a narrow bandpass filter may be needed to properly photograph electrophoresis
gels. If the photos that show the inside of the
transilluminator including the light bulbs rather than the image of the gel

infrared light that digital cameras often record.
